Making Nian Gao (Chinese New Year cake) the cool way!

Charcoal Nian Gao

This year, we made lucky food for Chinese New Year – charcoal Nian Gao. A type of Chinese cake that usually we only have it once a year. It is sticky and sweet and most importantly, you can keep it for a year on shelf! Very sustainable 😀 It is a family affair so get your community together for this.

Stone Grind

Grinding sticky rice (pulut)

Mixing the Nian Gao dough

To soften banana leaves, run them through fire made with coconut leaves. Then use them to shape the tin mold
